A Hot Mess
Crime Scene Project Completed by the Following Forensic Experts:
Katie, Savanna, Anthony, and Jack
The key perpetrator in this story is the owner of Jake's Dry Cleaning- Jake Smith. Joe's wife, Kelly, was having an affair with Jake. The two met a year prior to Joe's death when Kelly picked up her husbands dry cleaning. Joe felt as though something was off in his marriage, and started eavesdropping on Kelly's conversations, always wanting to know where she was and who she was with, and other questions along the lines of investigation. Jake was a controlling "boyfriend" and wanted Kelly to divorce Joe, but Kelly was unwilling. Jake decided to take matters into his own hands and take Joe out of the picture for good. This is where the second perpetrator comes in, and the actual killer. An employee of Jake's dry cleaning business, and good friend of Jake's, Ricky Evans, is an ex-convict who did time for a murder for hire conviction. Jake asked Ricky if he would be willing to help him with an extreme favor, told him the circumstances, and Ricky agreed to help. Jake supplied him arsenic to sprinkle on Joe's clothes before Joe picked up his dry cleaning on that August 13th afternoon. Jake noticed that every time Joe picked up his dry cleaning on his lunch break, that he would walk back to his work office. Considering that it was the middle of August, and the heat would be at record highs, Jake knew that Joe would easily absorb the poison into his skin through his sweating.
